Configuration
nextbrew has no configuration file. It is configured with global options and environment variables.
Global options
| Flag | Meaning |
|---|---|
--root <ROOT> | Path to the nextbrew data directory (env NEXTBREW_ROOT) |
--prefix <PREFIX> | Path to the Homebrew-style prefix (overrides NEXTBREW_PREFIX) |
--concurrency <CONCURRENCY> | Number of concurrent download threads (default 20) |
--auto-init | Initialize without prompting (env NEXTBREW_AUTO_INIT) |
-v, --verbose | Increase output verbosity |
-q, --quiet | Suppress output, only show errors |
-V, --version | Print version |
Directories
The root holds store, db, cache and locks. The prefix holds bin and Cellar, like a Homebrew prefix.
| Platform | Root | Prefix |
|---|---|---|
| macOS | /opt/nextbrew | same as root |
| Linux, default | /home/nextbrew/.nextbrew | same as root |
| Linux, other root | the root you set | <root>/prefix |
nb init creates these directories and adds nextbrew to your shell config.
